Based across London, Manchester and Belfast, our Personal Injury and Medical Negligence team work for claimants throughout the UK and also act on behalf of claimants living abroad. They are highly regarded for their depth of knowledge and breadth of experience.
What to expect
- Receiving and responding to emails both internally and externally promptly
- Diary management – proactively checking and taking appropriate actions
- E-mail management ensuring urgent emails are promptly picked up by fee earners or forwarded to another fee earner in their absence
- Drafting fee earners emails to clients, experts etc
- Organising conferences with counsel meetings with multiple attendees
- Compiling bundles, electronic & hard copy
- Booking interpreters for medico-legal appointments and any other relevant appointments
- Booking taxis via reception for clients for medico-legal appointments, as and when necessary
- Updating experts\' trackers, to include diarising in the fee earner\'s calendar and two weeks beforehand for a letter of instruction to be prepared
- Drafting Forms of Authorities
- Delegating work to the relevant support team e.g. Document Production, Practice Administration to ensure that PA time is maximised
- Updating medical records trackers when records are received
- Updating rehab records, rehab spreadsheets and dealing with rehab payments, if relevant to the fee earners that you work for
- Dealing with rent payments for clients
- Dealing with damages payments for clients
- Setting up iManage Share sites
- Collating documentation re. Bill of Costs and drawing up Notices of Commencements
- Updating Schedule of Damages
- File management responsibilities - opening and closing files including ensuring electronic filing systems are maintained accurately and up to date
- Communicating regularly with fee earners to ensure that both parties are clear on priorities and what is on the \"to do\" list
- Proactive client liaison including take messages, passing on information and dealing with simple queries
- Organising transport, accommodation and related documentation for international and UK travel as required
- Produce itineraries as appropriate
- Prepare client registration documents, engagement/assignment letters, conflicts checks, money laundering and audit letters, with direction from partner/fee earner
- Any additional ad hoc tasks as required
A bit about you
- Experienced Legal Secretary/PA within Litigation with a minimum of 3 years\' experience.
- Must possess excellent diary management, organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and build good relationships with clients and staff within the firm.
- Must work well as part of a team.
- Must be a competent, fast and accurate typist.
- Must be competent at producing legal documents to a high standard.
- Professional telephone manner and the ability to accurately record and pass on messages.
- Sound technical skills in the following areas:
- Proven experience of using a legal computerised finance system.
