What can you expect? Our Real Estate Finance practice is focused on the financing and refinancing of the sale, purchase and development of real estate assets of all types. We act for a broad range of lenders across all sectors, asset classes and value range. Real Estate Finance at Fieldfisher is a cross departmental discipline with teams being drawn from our Real Estate and Banking and Finance teams. This role is for a Real Estate lawyer who has had experience in working in a similar set up. The role that we are seeking to fill will involve handling a dynamic caseload of loans ranging from loans to residential developers where we also manage the standard form documentation process through to providing due diligence and Real Estate CP input into larger deals where the documentation is handled by our banking and finance colleagues. The Real Estate finance team is split geographically between London and Manchester but operates as one single national team. The successful candidate will be part of the London team but based in Manchester with the opportunity to grow their own practice and team, creating an excellent career development opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Managing the Real Estate aspects of real estate finance transactions, including title due diligence, input into finance documents, managing CP process and coordinating the closing process.
- In connection with certain lenders, preparing the relevant security package and preparing/approving corporate authorisations etc.
- Reviewing on transactions the form of facility letter or loan agreement.
- Acting for receivers and administrators on the sale of property assets following enforcement by a mortgagee.
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum 6 years post qualification experience, working as part of a team advising lenders in relation to the Real Estate aspects of Real Estate Financings.
- Some exposure to general transactional work, particularly Landlord & Tenant, and a working knowledge of transactional processes would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Land Registry practices particularly regarding execution of documents using DocuSign.
- Knowledge of construction procurement methods, Building Safety Act and leasehold reform legislation would also be useful (though not essential).
