We are looking for an experienced Business Development & Marketing Manager to support the growth of our Dispute Resolution practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual who has an exceptional track record in delivering high-quality and high-impact BD and marketing programmes from within an international professional services firm in the legal sector. The role requires a commercial mindset and ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative to translate emerging business issues and developments into commercial opportunities.
The candidate will be working with a group of highly engaged stakeholders, be supported by a Business Development Executive and collaborate closely with the firm's Digital Marketing, Events, PR & Communications, Bids and international Business Development teams.
What You'll Do:
- Business Development strategy: Support the development of the practice strategy and sub-group business plans. Execution and communication of the strategy to the wider firm and the market.
- Client relationship management and targeting: Client account planning and relationship management. Client research and targeting. Development of value propositions for clients and targets. Cross‑selling within existing clients. Relationship development with intermediaries and overseas law firms.
- Campaign development and delivery: Market research and horizon scanning to identify thought leadership and BD campaign opportunities. Campaign development and delivery to achieve high BD activity for the practice and increase its profile in the market. Project‑management of the full cycle of practice campaigns providing insight into ROI and performance.
- Marketing activities and infrastructure: Delivery of marketing activities and proficient use of marketing systems and processes for effective client outreach. Creation, maintenance and distribution of the group’s marketing collateral including brochures, intranet and website pages, social media posts, client alerts and practice newsletters. Development of a reliable process and infrastructure in relation to the group’s marketing activities, such as contact mailing lists, credentials database and the local use of the firm’s CRM system.
- Co‑ordination: Cross‑practice relationship‑building and collaboration with international teams to identify key opportunities for involvement. Supervision of the event planning to ensure BD ROI is tracked and opportunities identified and followed up. Co‑ordinate delivery of the group’s RFPs, pitches, directories and award submissions. Coordinate marketing activities in collaboration with international teams to deliver marketing collateral, ensuring it is on message and within brand guidelines.
- Business Development skills development and training: Strategic advice and ongoing development of lawyers’ BD knowledge and skills. Business Development training for teams and individuals.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree educated
- At least 3 years’ experience of working in a BD and/or marketing managerial role within a professional services environment
- Experience of working with a contentious practice in a law firm, both in the UK and internationally
- Excellent relationship building skills and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong digital skills and understanding of digital and social media channels
- A collaborative, strong team player approach
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks
