Key Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing: A role within the Grid team is wide‑range, with opportunities to contribute across the full project lifecycle—from early‑stage development through to construction and commissioning. It is a core role within the business and offers the opportunity to influence projects at every stage.

  • Grid Connection Development: Analyse the existing and future GB electricity network to inform the location and electrical characteristics of new projects. Track industry developments and incorporate these into project strategy. Prepare and manage grid connection applications and coordinate inputs across internal teams and external stakeholders. • Pre‑Construction Engineering: Lead technical evaluation of sites through site visits and third‑party investigations, including potential acquisition opportunities. Develop and review technical outputs such as SLDs and fault‑level contributions. Support design development, review and interpret third‑party power system studies to assess grid code compliance and provide recommendations. Contribute to lender and investor technical due diligence and evaluate technical tender submissions. Coordinate with the grid development team and act as the key interface with DNOs and TOs through construction.
  • Construction Engineering and Commissioning: Review detailed design submissions from contractors and manage technical RFIs. Support testing and commissioning, coordinating teams and contractors to safely energise and hand over assets to Asset Operations. Assist the Project Manager with inputs to schedules, risk registers and budgets. Support the Senior Project Engineer in reviewing operations and maintenance documentation.
  • Technical Due Diligence and Acquisitions: Support electrical due diligence for projects Field is acquiring. Review transmission and distribution connection offers, assess risks and delivery timelines. Liaise with developers, TOs and DNOs to understand connection status and delivery programmes. Review single‑line diagrams and general arrangement drawings prepared by developers to ensure technical suitability.
