Your Mission
As Land and Origination Lead, you will be responsible for securing all land agreements necessary to deliver Field's extensive portfolio of development and pre-construction battery projects, as well as originating new opportunities for novel technologies. This is a highly autonomous role that will call on a wide skillset - you'll need to balance strategic thinking, commercial acumen, operational rigour, landowner negotiation skills and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Team leadership: Leading and managing a direct report, taking responsibility for the team's overall delivery against targets; and budget management, KPI monitoring and reporting.
- Strategic input on novel technologies: Scanning the development landscape to spot opportunities for what to develop next; working autonomously to identify the commercial and land-related implications of novel and emerging technologies; and assessing site and land suitability requirements specific to new technology types, advising the wider business accordingly.
- Site identification and lead generation: Using up to date market knowledge to identify potential new development opportunities; keeping abreast of developments in the transmission grid and connections application process to propose the best areas to try and secure a grid connection; using detailed knowledge of planning, environmental and physical constraints to complete thorough site suitability and commercial viability assessments; and applying land expertise to structure, negotiate and close land agreements.
- Landowner engagement: Applying strong communication skills to build relationships and negotiate with landowners, agents and solicitors; demonstrating a deep understanding of the needs, concerns and priorities of landowners and their agents; and actively fostering a wide network of external industry contacts, ensuring Field's reputation reflects positively across the market.
- Securing and closing land deals: Leading complex negotiations and using commercial clauses to protect Field from a property and project delivery perspective; optimising contract terms and conditions to align with legal obligations, industry standards and company goals; taking personal ownership of closing third party agreements — land options, easements, servitudes and other commercial arrangements — to keep projects moving into delivery; and working autonomously to identify and resolve obstacles that could delay deal completion.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Extensive experience leading land acquisition, origination or business development within BESS, renewables or a related infrastructure sector.
- Proven ability to lead complex commercial negotiations and close third party deals independently.
- Detailed, up to date knowledge of GB planning, environmental and grid infrastructure considerations affecting site suitability.

A bit about Field: Field builds, owns and operates renewable energy infrastructure. We develop grid-scale BESS sites across the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany, backed by £200 million investment from CVC DIF. Our mission is to continue to grow internationally and develop a strong global BESS portfolio. Batteries have a big job to do. They store renewable energy for when it's needed most, reducing grid intermittency and displacing carbon-intensive generation. Without storage, renewables can't scale — and we're here to change that. We have 300 MWh operational, 300 MWh under construction, and 4.5 GWh in development. We're a team of experts in our fields — from engineers and construction managers to traders and data scientists — who roll up their sleeves and move fast. We're curious, we share openly, and we're genuinely motivated by the mission.
Our Values: Work for the team - We are friendly and approachable. We make time for each other, value diverse perspectives, and learn and grow together. Do it right - We prioritise doing things right, never cutting corners. Safety comes first, and we consider our impact on communities and the environment. We act with integrity always. Move fast - We’re doers. We take responsibility, deliver on promises, and get things done. FAST. Know your stuff - We’re curious self-starters, always learning, adapting, and improving. No question is too small. We own our growth.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion: Diverse teams make better teams. Field is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment which is as representative as possible of our society. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, disability, gender expression, marriage/civil partnership status, pregnancy/maternity status, race, nationality, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.
