Deputy Manager required for our Ofsted regulated home in Kingstanding supporting 8‐18s with EBD and challenging behaviour. We have an established home where the 2 children are stable and happy that now requires a Deputy to support the Registered Manager.

The focus of our service delivery is to help and support our clients to develop their independent living skills whilst in transition towards adulthood and being able to manage their own tenancy in the community effectively. We are obliged to ensure its policies and procedures are aimed at safeguarding the service users. Our 3‐bed Ofsted regulated home supports 2 children and is Ofsted rated Good.

Deputy Manager role:

  • To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.
  • To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
  • To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
  • To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
  • To offer supervision and support to other staff in line with Quality Standards.

To lead and manage the Children Homes consistent with the approach and therapeutic ethos of the home, delivering high quality care and outcomes for children placed in them. To ensure that the homes Statement of Purpose is adhered to throughout all working practice. To achieve 'Good' with the aspirational focus to achieve an 'Outstanding' Service under Children's Home Regulations and Ofsted Regulatory framework.

Essential Qualifications and Experience required for Deputy Manager:

  • Diploma L3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to complete Diploma L5 L&M in H&SC.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor in a Residential Children's Care Setting.
  • Working with children, young people, and their families.
  • 24 months experience of working in a residential setting with and managing challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to manage teams effectively.
  • Ability to motivate and enthuse staff.

Overview for Deputy Manager:

  • Location - Kingstanding.
  • Experience - Min of 2yrs in previous role as SSW or DM in an EBD Home.
  • Qualification - Min level 3 diploma in Children & Young People and working towards level 5.
  • Shift Pattern – Days, nights (wake or sleep in), weekends and bank holidays. Sleep in rate is £50 per night, generally with occasional nights.
  • Salary – Competitive. 40 hours per week, annual salary £32‐34k plus occasional sleeps.
