We require an experienced Deputy Manager for a new Solo Unit home supporting 8-18 year old with EBD SEMH and challenging behaviour. There will be tremendous opportunities to grow with career progression. You will have strong support from your Registered Manager to debrief and reset effectively.
- On-call capability: confident in managing concerns, giving clear direction to staff, and escalating appropriately; makes defensible decisions at pace.
- Leadership and role-modelling: sets expectations, holds boundaries, promotes a positive culture, and supports staff performance and wellbeing.
- Initiative and problem-solving: identifies risks early, anticipates staffing/practical needs, and takes ownership to resolve issues.
- Safeguarding and risk management: strong understanding of safeguarding processes, missing-from-care responses, incident management and learning.
- Care planning and outcomes focus: contributes to meaningful plans, routines and goals; promotes education, health and positive activities.
- Quality and compliance: maintains strong recording, medication oversight (where applicable), audits/checks, and readiness for regulation/inspections.
- Communication and professional curiosity: works effectively with social workers, schools, health and other partners; asks the right questions and challenges respectfully.
- Shift coordination: manages rotas/cover, handovers and daily priorities to keep the home running smoothly.
- Reflective practice: learns from incidents, welcomes feedback, and helps embed improvement across the home.
Deputy Manager qualifications: Diploma L3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Willingness to complete Diploma L5.
