We are looking to create and register a new Fostering agency for Birmingham and surrounding areas. The office will be based in Calthorpe Road Birmingham B15 1TH. Our new Agency requires a Responsible Individual (RI) who will have sound Fostering Agency and Legal Knowledge. We are looking for a forward-thinking individual with a proven track record in developing fostering services.
The individual will be required to conduct internal audits and quality checks of policies and procedures and service regulations, identify recommendations and areas for improvement. It is important to acknowledge the expectation that there will be on-call duties. Calls will be answered and then directions given to the manager should there be an incident requiring your oversight.
The Fostering Agency Responsible Individual (RI) will:
- Represent the organisation in dealings with Ofsted.
- Act as a single point of contact for the fostering service alongside the Registered Manager.
- Ensure compliance with The Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.
- Work strategically with their Directors of the agency to maintain a safe, well-managed service that delivers positive outcomes for children.
- Work in partnership with the Registered Manager in the decisions and management of the Foster Agency, ensuring the service is safe, well run and complies with regulations.
- Demonstrate good knowledge and experience of law and practice relating to looked after children.
Essential skills and experience required:
- A recognised social work qualification with at least 3 years post-qualifying experience in childcare social work and knowledge of childcare law and practice.
- Current HCPC registration.
- At least two years’ experience relevant to fostering within the last 5 years.
- Experience supervising and managing professional staff ideally within an independent fostering agency.
- Substantial experience of managing care planning practice in care, identifying, assessing, planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating outcomes.
- Successful experience in managing child protection and safeguarding, supporting resilience, managing risk, maximising care and welfare, health and safety issues.
- Experience of working in partnership with OFSTED to achieve better outcomes for children and a clear understanding of the inspectorate expectations.
- Substantial and impressive record of achievement at a management level in a children’s services setting.
- Ability to demonstrate to OFSTED the essential skills needed to develop the leadership and management of the Foster Agency to meet the Quality Care Standards and enable the children and families we support to thrive and reach their potential.
- Experience of working with OFSTED/ Inspection framework & sound knowledge of SCCIF.
- Experience of monitoring and quality assurance of a service provision to achieve compliance.
Salary & Benefits:
- Negotiating a Full time or Part time position.
- Salary will be around £50,000 and £60,000 plus bonus Full time and Pro Rata Part Time (2 days minimum).
- Salary guaranteed to increase as the Agency grows.
