We’re looking for an experienced Team Leader with proven management experience to join Field Studies Council Margam Discovery Centre. In this senior role, you’ll manage and mentor a passionate education team, oversee curriculum delivery, and contribute to the strategic management of the centre alongside the Centre Manager.

In this senior role, you will:

• Lead and manage the education team, providing guidance, mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
• Develop, plan, and oversee the delivery of high-quality curriculum-linked learning experiences that increase students’ understanding of nature and the environment.
• Support the Centre Manager in running the day-to-day operations of the centre and contribute to strategic planning.
• Participate in some hands-on teaching in the field, working with students of all ages on a variety of science and geography programmes.
• This role also forms part of our duty rota which will involve staying on site on some evenings and overnight to deal with customer issues and respond to emergencies.
• As a key member of the senior on-call team you will also provide support to other duty staff.

Where you’ll be based: Set within the 850-acre Margam Park estate, surrounded by woodland, open grassland and freshwater habitats, this is a workplace shaped by its landscape. The diverse environments around the centre create a natural outdoor classroom for learners of all ages. Who we’re looking for: We are seeking an experienced leader with a proven track record of managing and developing teams, with:

• Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.
• At least 5 years relevant work experience, with the confidence to produce and prepare teaching resources, activities and lesson plans that meet curricular requirements.
• A strong work ethic and pride in the quality of your work.
• A flexible, adaptive approach, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• A professional manner and empathy with the Field Studies Council’s mission.
• Commitment to personal development and motivation to take on new challenges.
