The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing and developing the maintenance function to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power generation facility. They will oversee maintenance activities, engineering integrity, and asset performance, ensuring plant availability is maximised in line with safety, environmental, OEM, and industry best practice standards.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the Maintenance team, ensuring effective delivery of maintenance activities
- Develop and implement planned and preventative maintenance strategies for boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems
- Maximise plant availability, reliability, and efficiency through proactive maintenance management
- Manage CMMS systems, maintenance schedules, work planning, and performance reporting
- Coordinate outage planning, scheduling, and execution activities
- Provide technical support and engineering solutions to improve plant performance
- Investigate and report on plant failures, downtime events, and loss of generation incidents
- Manage critical spares, inventory levels, procurement activities, and supplier coordination
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with QHSE requirements, environmental permits, and company procedures
- Manage maintenance budgets, cost control, and resource planning
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Site Management teams to optimise plant performance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and long-term asset reliability strategies
Skills and knowledge required to succeed:
Strong experience in Maintenance Management within the Power Generation sector, ideally within Energy from Waste (EfW), Biomass, Renewable Energy, or large industrial plants. Engineering background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine disciplines preferred, with experience managing maintenance teams, rotating equipment, turbines, generators, and plant reliability programmes.
