About Field Locker

Field Locker is one of the UK's leading data collection agencies, delivering high-quality quantitative and qualitative research for market research agencies, consultancies and brands. With over 30 years of experience, we specialise in CATI interviewing, online sample, qualitative recruitment and project management. As we continue to invest in technology and grow our online capabilities, we're looking for someone with a logical, analytical mindset to join our Programming team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys problem solving, technology and attention to detail, and wants to develop specialist skills within the market research industry.

The Role

As a Junior Survey Programmer, you'll be learning to build and test online surveys using the Forsta survey platform, checking data quality throughout projects, and producing tables and outputs using Askia. You'll work closely with Project Managers to ensure surveys are delivered accurately, on time and to the highest standard. No two days are the same. One day you could be programming a complex customer satisfaction survey, the next you could be checking quota logic, troubleshooting survey behaviour or producing client-ready data tables. Full training will be provided on our systems, but we're looking for someone who enjoys learning technology and solving problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program online surveys using the Forsta platform
  • Test surveys thoroughly before launch across multiple devices
  • Build routing, quotas, validation and survey logic
  • Check survey data throughout fieldwork to ensure accuracy
  • Produce data tables and reports using Askia
  • Troubleshoot programming issues and identify logical errors
  • Make amendments quickly during live projects
  • Work closely with Project Managers to deliver projects on time
  • Ensure projects meet internal quality standards
  • Continuously improve programming processes and documentation

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • A logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable working with technology and software
  • Basic understanding of HTML
  • Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy

Desirable

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Development, Mathematics or another technical subject
  • Up to 1-2 years' experience in a technical or programming-related role
  • Experience using HTML
  • Knowledge of survey programming platforms (Forsta, Confirmit, Decipher or Qualtrics) would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Experience working with data or reporting software such as Askia would be beneficial

The Type of Person Who Will Thrive Here

You'll enjoy this role if you:

  • Like solving puzzles and working through problems logically
  • Enjoy learning new technology and systems
  • Take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Can spot mistakes that others might miss
  • Enjoy working as part of a supportive team
  • Want to build a long-term career within market research and technology
