Senior Civils Design Engineer
Department: Development
Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time
Location: UK – London
Reporting To: Chris Wickins
Compensation: £45,000 – £50,000 / year
Description
Your Mission
As a design engineer at Field you will be involved in the design of our battery sites from the origination stage, through development and planning and finally into construction.
In origination you will be involved with the initial identification of sites and creating the concept design that will enable our origination and legal team to negotiate a suitable plot of land.
The project then moves into the development stage and at Field we do a lot of design in this stage to ensure the project will receive planning consent and will be built with minimal variations. It is in this stage that the design engineer takes ownership of the site design and works with our internal experts in planning and construction as well as external consultants to create the battery site that we will build. You will create the 2D site plans, equipment drawings and complete 3D modelling using both Civil 3D and REVIT as well as leading the design health and safety review with all the key stakeholders in the project.
Once a project has received planning consent you will then work with our construction project managers to ensure the project is built in accordance with our design by reviewing and advising on the detailed design drawings from the contractor.
Within Field you will get exposure to the latest battery technology, work in a team of experts in the UK and Europe and contribute to the growth of the company as we contribute to the global climate goals. You will work in a fast pace environment and you will be able to work with full autonomy with control over the projects you work on. Like the company, the design team is growing and you will be able to work with and train other members of the team and help build the design processes that we will use in the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
This is a broad and varied role with the opportunity to have massive impact. Key responsibilities including
- Lead designer on several projects at different stages of development working with the internal team and consultants whilst using your engineering knowledge to design a site that meets all our requirements.

- Single-line diagrams;
- Planning application drawings;
- Land plans;

- Reviews of external designs and drawings ensuring all work meets our requirements and standards.
- Review of tender documents and data sheets to continually develop our in house design knowledge and processes. This will include technical information, construction methods and safety requirements.
