CAD Technician / CAD Design Engineer

Your Mission
Key Responsibilities
- During origination, you will be involved in the initial analysis of sites, assessing site suitability and creating a concept design. Property drawings are a significant part of this stage
- A large focus of our work is during the development stage - Field is owner and operator of all of our sites and so we do a lot of upfront assessments and design work to support our planning applications. You will use topographic surveys, intrusive ground investigations, infiltration testing and access studies to inform the designs and ensuring that they are robust, and safe to construct and operate; and
- Once a project has received planning consent you will work with our construction team and contractors to ensure the project is built in accordance with our design, reviewing detailed design drawings from the contractor, and working on planning variations where needed.
What you’ll be doing
- Creation of 2D site plans, equipment drawings and 3D modelling on several projects which you will be responsible for across GB and Germany origination and development. You will work with internal grid, origination and development teams and external consultants to design a site that meets all our requirements.
- Completion of a full suite of 2D drawings and plans to support your designs including:
- Single-line diagrams;
- Planning application drawings;
- Land plans;
- Pre-construction information e.g. combined utilities plan.
- Production of 3D site design models using both Civil 3D to calculate site levels and earthwork requirements and REVIT/3ds Max to create the sites in 3D for visualisations.
- Reviews of internal and external design work and drawings to ensure all work meets our requirements and standards.
- Review of tender documents and data sheets to continually develop our in house design knowledge and processes. This will include technical information, construction methods and safety requirements.
- Support of the implementation of Field’s internal data management system and continued process compliance.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- You’re enthusiastic, curious and knowledgeable about the energy storage industry, with a particular passion to learn about the technical aspects of BESS.
- You’ve got an eye for detail. Accuracy in our designs is critical; you’ll work to a high standard and collaborate with others to ensure constructable designs.
- You’re very organised - you’ll be spinning a few plates at once, so you’ll need to have tried and tested methods for keeping on top of a varied workload at your fingertips.
- You’re an open, clear communicator who enjoys working collaboratively - there are no ‘lone wolves’ at Field, we’re all in this together.
- You like variety - this isn’t an easy role, so you’ll need to be someone who thrives on challenge, likes to be always learning and isn’t afraid of a broad role remit
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD;
- Experience with Civil 3D and Revit or similar 3D software;
- Experience within the energy storage industry is desirable but not essential;
- Business level German is desirable but not essential;
- Experience working internationally is desirable but not essential;
- Degree in engineering is desirable but not essential.
