Are you excited by the thought of creating the future energy system? Eager to build something meaningful from the ground up? This is your chance to make a real impact across the UK’s largest BESS portfolio.
Fidra Energy is developing a portfolio of transmission-connected battery storage assets at unprecedented scale. Thorpe Marsh (1.45GW) and West Burton C (500MW) are the first assets in that portfolio, and the standards set here will be applied across every site that follows.
This role gives you the authority to shape the HV safety and operating framework for the portfolio from the outset.
The opportunity
You will act as Fidra’s HV technical and safety authority, with the mandate to design, own, and evolve the HV rules, switching regimes, and operational standards used across the business. What you build here will not stay on one site — it will scale.
What you’ll do
- Own and define HV safety rules and operating procedures
- Act as the HV SME for systems, protection, and grid interfaces
- Operate as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) up to 400kV, setting and enforcing safety standards
- Set operational acceptance standards for construction handover
- Lead HV fault investigation and embed learning
- Provide visible HV safety leadership in live operations
Who this is for
A proven Electrical professional with experience of operating in high risk environments, driven to ensure that others adhere to the highest possible safety standards.
Why Fidra
Fidra is intentionally investing early in operational leadership and technical authority. This role is backed at senior level, given genuine influence, and designed to shape how a multi-gigawatt portfolio is operated — not just how a single site runs. This is a rare chance to design the HV framework once and see it used repeatedly at scale.
Please note: only candidates with the right to work in the UK will be considered.
