About this Role

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Software Engineer to join Fideres and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to become a professional software engineer, following the 3-4 year degree (level 6) apprenticeship program.

As an Apprentice, you will work alongside our experienced Software Engineers, contributing to real projects while learning on the job. You will gain practical experience in coding, systems analysis, and data management, gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills develop.

Key Responsibilities

You will learn and gradually take on responsibilities such as:

  • Writing, testing and debugging software and code to meet business wide requirements.
  • Understanding how data flows through systems and applications, learn how to build infrastructure to support this.
  • Support the integration of business wide systems and databases.
  • Learning how to document code, processes and technical solutions clearly.
  • Participating in system upgrades, migrations and new technology roll-outs.
  • Developing problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues.
  • Communicating technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • Building awareness of cyber security, data protection and compliance requirements.

Key Skills and Attributes

To be successful in securing a place on this apprenticeship you should have:

  • A strong interest in technology and software development.
  • Three A-levels (with a minimum of two STEM subjects including Maths) or equivalent qualifications. Economics is not essential but would be desirable.
  • Basic coding skills in any language (Python, C#, Java, SQL or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, responsive to stakeholder needs
  • Excellent problem solving and logic skills.
  • Initiative, integrity and accountability.
  • Takes ownership/accountability, is focused on delivery and committed to seeing projects through to their close.
  • Has integrity, initiative, and is not afraid to express an opinion and offer new solutions.
