The Department: Fidelity's Fixed Income Division is one of the world's leading fixed income managers with over $2.4 trillion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of more than 200 investment professionals. At Fidelity, we combine fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to develop investment decisions aiming to maximize risk-adjusted total return for our clients. The Fixed Income Division is headquartered in Merrimack, New Hampshire, and has a team of more than 20 associates located in Fidelity's London office.
The Position: Based in London, we are seeking a Research Associate for our Investment Grade Research Team covering financial institutions in Europe and Asia. The Research Associate will be part of the financial institutions team, which includes analysts in London and the US, supporting Fidelity's bond and money market fund investment process. The Associate will support the work of the Research Analysts to provide in-depth coverage of assigned financial institutions and banking systems, build and maintain financial models, draft and produce research material, maintain robust and accurate data, communicate credit opinions, and generate investment ideas. The Associate will interact regularly with analysts, portfolio managers and traders, both in the UK and the US, across a variety of investment mandates. Our investment process is heavily team-based and the successful Associate will contribute regularly and effectively to group activities. The Fixed Income Division's research associate program utilizes an apprenticeship model and provides the participants with experience in fixed income research and investing, as well as in-depth training in particular sectors. The program is designed to last 4 years, at which time successful associates are typically positioned for more senior roles within Fidelity, the asset management industry, or top graduate programmes.
Qualifications: We are currently seeking candidates who have the following characteristics:
- Bachelors degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Expertise in Excel programming is a strong plus
- Critical thinking and intellectual curiosity, including demonstrated interest in investing
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail
- Results-driven; self-motivated to succeed and demonstrated work ethic
- Ability to work and contribute as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication
- A European language will be considered favourably
