About Your Team
The position is part of the Enterprise Network & Multimedia Services (ENS) group within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) division. EIS delivers secure, reliable, and globally accessible IT infrastructure across both on‑premises and cloud environments to support Fidelity’s applications, digital services, and dynamic working models.
ENS plays a critical role in delivering secure, scalable, and innovative network solutions that power global enterprise operations. We are a global team of 70+ professionals across the UK, Europe, India, and APAC. Historically organized by functions such as Operations, Delivery, and Engineering, ENS has evolved to embrace modern cloud technologies and Infrastructure‑as‑Code. To strengthen accountability, agility, and technical excellence, we are transitioning to an accountability‑based structure effective Q1 2026. Under this model, the team will be organized into seven technical service groups, each led by a manager who serves as both a people leader and the accountable owner for their services. These groups include Network Engineering (this role is the leader of this group), Core Network, Network Security, Traffic Gateway, End User Connectivity, Multimedia, and Common Services.
ENS is responsible for delivering consistent, secure, and compliant network and multimedia capabilities across the enterprise. Our services span a broad range of critical infrastructure, including SD‑WAN, campus and data center networking, firewalls, proxy, internet/extranet connectivity, and meeting collaboration solutions. The team is currently driving major technology transformations, including migrating from on‑premises infrastructure to cloud‑based solutions and implementing advanced network segmentation to align with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). These initiatives strengthen security, resilience, and agility in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
Within ENS, the Network Engineering team serves as a senior technical authority, responsible for defining technical standards, shaping architecture, and driving complex solution design across multiple product groups. The team focuses on governance and innovation, including evaluating emerging technologies and ensuring consistent implementation of best practices. Comprising approximately 6 –12 highly experienced professionals, Network Engineering works closely with both internal and external stakeholders. This includes collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, IT Security, Business Application Support, and Technology Resilience teams, as well as ENS product groups and product owners. Together, the team ensures that ENS solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with enterprise-wide architecture and regulatory standards.
About Your Role
As a senior technical leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping ENS’s technology direction and ensuring architectural consistency across a diverse set of network and multimedia services. You will define and enforce technical standards, guide solution design for complex multi‑domain initiatives, and act as the primary governance authority for engineering practices within ENS. Your leadership will directly influence how global network services evolve to meet the demands of cloud adoption, regulatory compliance, and enterprise resilience.
In addition to technical governance, this role requires strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with Enterprise Architecture, IT Security, Business Application Support, and Technology Resilience teams, as well as ENS Product Groups and product owners, to deliver integrated solutions that align with enterprise‑wide architecture and compliance frameworks. You will also contribute to ENS product roadmaps, ensuring technical direction, investment priorities, and operational readiness are coherently planned and delivered.
About You
As a senior technical manager, you are expected to bring extensive experience in enterprise network architecture and engineering, with a proven record of leading large-scale, multi-domain migrations and delivering complex transformation programs in highly regulated environments, ideally within financial services. The role expects the ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into actionable architectures, processes, and technical designs. This includes shaping both high-level and low-level designs, establishing standards and models across the full design-to-deployment lifecycle, and ensuring that solutions balance functionality with resilience, security, and operational efficiency. Comfort with evaluating new technologies and turning business problems into measurable, outcome-driven engineering solutions is essential.
You are expected to demonstrate deep technical expertise across enterprise networking domains, including routing, switching, data center fabrics, load balancing, network security, Zero Trust, identity-based segmentation, observability, and automation-driven operations. Strong knowledge of cloud networking, AI-assisted operations, DevOps-aligned engineering practices, and regulatory frameworks such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) is required. The role further expects proven leadership in coaching engineers, running architecture and design authority forums, managing vendors, and handling senior-level technical escalations. Professional certifications such as CCIE or CCNP, PCNSE, CISSP, TOGAF, or cloud certifications from AWS or Azure are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership and Governance
- Define ENS-level technical standards, reference models, and reusable patterns across campus, core/data center, cloud, and multimedia environments, ensuring alignment with resilience, security, compliance, and observability requirements.
- Lead the Design Review and Design Authority process, serving as final approver for complex designs and co-approving routine designs with Enterprise Architecture and Product Groups. Maintain governance across the full design lifecycle, including decision logs and quality gates for high-level and low-level designs, testing, telemetry, and rollback planning.
- Drive multi-domain solution design for cross-product initiatives such as DORA compliance and segmentation models, while guiding Product Groups toward product-specific solutions.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies in AI, cloud networking, automation, and DevOps, converting proof-of-concept outcomes into reference architectures and implementation blueprints.
- Act as senior escalation point for major incidents and participate in ENS global management on-call rotation to provide incident support and executive-level communication.
- Contribute to ENS product line roadmap planning, ensuring technical direction aligns with enterprise strategy and compliance obligations.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to align technical designs with enterprise-level strategy and long-term roadmaps.
- Work with Product Groups to support domain-specific designs, provide architectural guidance, and ensure consistent technical alignment across ENS services.
- Partner with security, resilience, and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements, including security, compliance, observability, and operational readiness.
- Facilitate joint design reviews and maintain a collaborative culture across ENS teams, ensuring clear communication and shared ownership of outcomes.
- Manage work allocation, backlog planning, and delivery cadence for the Network Engineering team, ensuring predictable execution and high-quality outcomes.
- Build team capability through structured skills development and hands-on technical upskilling, leveraging external professional services expertise where appropriate.
- Design and maintain an ENS-level technical learning and certification plan, covering core networking, security, cloud networking, automation, observability, and compliance domains, with clear proficiency matrices and progression pathways.
- Coach and develop team members through regular 1:1s, mentoring, and targeted stretch assignments; identify and nurture high-potential employees to take on broader Network Engineering responsibilities and leadership opportunities.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for severe escalations, lead incident post‑mortems, and ensure lessons learned are embedded into standards, designs, and roadmaps.
