About Your Role
The Associate Director will be responsible for engineering & supporting the Fidelity AWS, Azure & container hosting platforms and their long‑term strategic development at FIL. As the Product Owner of these platforms you will offer best‑practice, trusted‑advisor consultancy to enable their adoption within FIL in support of our continued transformation strategy. You will be responsible for these core platforms from a security, risk, finance, audit & governance perspective, enabling the storing and processing of highly confidential data which are critical to FIL’s Digital Transformation Strategy.
As Product Owner, you will maintain a consistent service uptime SLA of 99.99% for the cloud services you are responsible for, ensuring the services are fault‑tolerant, scalable & continue to be changed during the business day with no downtime. Your role enables the engineers in your team to innovate new solutions with different tooling, utilising open source technologies by default, continuing to utilise best‑practice GitOps, IaC, continuous integration and deployment by default and leveraging AI where appropriate.
The Associate Director will promote the strategy to adopt cloud services, looking for opportunities to collaborate and communicate with peers in EE across Platform, Enablement & Governance to build user journeys that address friction and accelerate adoption. You will play a key role in showcasing the cloud capabilities of the AWS, Azure & container platforms available to FIL developers & application Product Owners. You will lead this platform group, resolve technical issues & continually improve the quality and innovation of the teams ensuring the teams continue to be highly autonomous & motivated. You will also be the Service Relationship Manager representative for AWS & Azure commercial relationships.
About You
- Technical competency with responsibility of enabling the team to deliver secure, automated, self‑serviced, innovative & cost‑efficient core services reliably and repeatedly into the platforms using extreme programming methodologies aligned to the strategic roadmap agreed within EE big‑room planning.
- Build strong relationships with customers & deliver solutions to meet their needs that are highly scalable & resilient, cost‑effective through mature continuous delivery & integration business‑as‑usual methods.
- Enable customers to understand & use the services in the most effective way to realise business benefit quickly, continually engaging with Engineering Enablement to ensure alignment and focus on customer journeys.
- Show courage of conviction to evangelise change within the portfolio delivery & ETS teams through collaboration and empathy, driven from a position of trust, patience & knowledge.
- Identify new improvements/requirements on cloud, propose solutions and agree with the core team, owning the outcome through to execution.
- Actively coach & support all team members, encouraging an open collaborative working culture within & outside the team.
- Illustrate a sound high‑level technical understanding of all cloud‑based technologies, both from an infrastructure & development perspective ensuring this understanding can benefit influencing others to adopt cloud.
- A strong background in agile engineering practices within cloud‑based technologies, focusing on delivering services that are loosely coupled, highly scalable & coded to cope with failure at every level.
- Proven track record of leading teams that engineer high‑quality fault‑tolerant event‑driven architectures as solutions to complex business solutions across multiple technologies within infrastructure specifically within the networking & security space.
- Very good knowledge of creating & managing continuous delivery pipelines enabling continuous integration using test‑driven development with high coverage in a multi‑tenant, full‑stack Production enterprise cloud configuration where rolling intra‑day upgrades are BAU, security & audit requirements are met by default.
- Working knowledge of open source project management & GitOps best practice.
- Very good appreciation for the challenges of migrating workloads to the public cloud from a security, risk & regulatory perspective.
- A technical, pragmatic leader & coach for best‑practice agile Kanban‑based Product teams using pointed MVP value‑add stories enabling rapid agile delivery to our customers.
- Demonstrative effective leadership in times of crisis.
- Full transparency of work with others to ensure maximum knowledge transfer & collaboration across the global teams.
- Highly motivated team player that forms strong relationships with colleagues with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English, although Hindi, Chinese very useful.
