Role Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Market Data Business Analyst to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in market data, vendor management, and investment research platforms. The successful candidate will support internal stakeholders across our global organisation, ensuring efficient usage, governance, and cost control of market data and research services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with key market data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE, S&P, Moody’s), including usage analysis, verification reports, and bandwidth reporting.
- Act as a trusted business partner to internal clients across multiple business units, helping them understand market data services and solutions.
- Understand business, strategic, and regulatory change initiatives to assess their impact on market data demand.
- Facilitate, evaluate, and optimise the use of investment research platforms such as AlphaSense, Visible Alpha, and broker research portals.
- Analyse and manage credit ratings data, ensuring accurate integration into internal systems and investment workflows.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to gather data requirements, present detailed cost breakdowns, and support strategic planning.
- Lead or support supplier negotiations, including deal structuring, creating leverage, and forming strategic partnerships.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Ensure compliance with data licensing agreements and support audit readiness.
- Contribute to documentation, including policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Provide market data insights and product proposals to business teams, from end users and business analysts to the Global Operating Committee (GOC).
- Support vendor governance through regular service and performance reviews, risk and incident management, and information security due diligence.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 3–5 years’ experience in market data within financial services.
- Strong understanding of market data BAU functions and vendor usage models.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data sets.
- Proficiency with MDSL (Market Data Manager) and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience with senior business clients.
- Experience in supplier negotiation and commercial awareness.
- Strong documentation skills, including policy and procedure writing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional, motivated, and diligent with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Team-oriented with excellent relationship-building skills.
Desirable:
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., FISD, IMC).
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
- Experience with vendor audits and compliance/governance for data usage.
