The Portfolio Services Group (PSG) supports UK and European Equity Portfolio Managers with the implementation of their portfolios, including retail and institutional equity portfolios and funds of funds. The PSG function forms part of the Asset Management CAO team, based in London.

PSG plays a critical role in enabling efficient, accurate and controlled portfolio implementation, working closely with the European Investment team, including portfolio management, trading, research and product management, across day‑to‑day activities and change initiatives. The Head of Equity PSG has overall responsibility and accountability for leading the PSG function, overseeing day‑to‑day portfolio services, and driving the ongoing evolution of the operating model to support increasing scale, complexity and regulatory requirements. This includes enhancing processes, strengthening controls, and partnering with Technology to ensure systems and data frameworks effectively support the investment process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Equity Portfolio Services Group, ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery of portfolio implementation support to Equity Portfolio Managers.
  • Oversee core PSG activities including order generation, cash management, pre‑trade compliance checks, portfolio monitoring and corporate action processing.
  • Ensure effective support and management for portfolio lifecycle events including fund launches, terminations, restructures, transitions and new market activity.
  • Maintain a strong service‑oriented culture, proactively managing the needs of Portfolio Managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, mentor and train the Equity PSG team, ensuring a high-performing and collaborative environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement in PSG processes to enhance efficiency, scalability and risk management.
  • Partner closely with Investment Compliance, Risk and other oversight functions to maintain a strong control environment.
  • Oversee the identification, escalation and resolution of issues impacting portfolio implementation.
  • Ensure PSG activities are aligned with internal policies, procedures and audit requirements.
  • Represent PSG and the Equity Investment team in business and technology change initiatives.
  • Lead or support broader strategic change initiatives impacting the Equity business.
  • Work closely with Technology teams to define requirements, support prioritisation and contribute to the evolution and optimisation of investment systems.
  • Support testing, implementation and embedding of system enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Investment Management and wider business functions, including Transaction Management Services, Corporate Actions, Cash & Control, Fund Accounting and Product Delivery.
Experience and Qualifications Required
  • Strong understanding of the equity investment process, including trading workflows and investment‑related functions, and knowledge of related operational support functions.
  • Good knowledge of investment systems and data environments (e.g. Charles River or similar order management systems).
  • Experience within investment management, ideally in portfolio services, trading support, investment operations or a related function.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team within a front‑office aligned environment.
  • Experience working on business and/or technology change initiatives.
  • High degree of interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable and delivery‑focused with a “can do” attitude.
  • Educated to degree level ideally, IMC required (or willingness to complete).
  • Significant relevant experience within the asset management or broader financial services industry.
