About your team
The real estate division of Fidelity International was founded in 2006 and launched its first funds for institutional investors in 2008, since when it has attracted a range of blue-chip clients from continental Europe, the UK, Canada and Asia. Current real estate AuM is in the region of €2.5 billion. The experienced team of fund managers, asset managers, transaction managers, research professionals, analysts and operations professionals are based in five locations across Europe (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Luxembourg). The team has established strong performance track records and we are building on this success by both growing our existing flagship funds, and further developing the business through new funds, including funds focused on climate impact investing. About your role
The ESG Data and Reporting Manager will be part of an established and successful pan-European real estate team and will be an integral part of delivering high quality, accurate and timely reporting, internally and externally. You will work in close collaboration with the real estate investment and research team including transactions and asset management specialists and with Investment Directing, Fund Control and FIL Platforms (our technology & operations team) and other enterprise functions including the Sustainable Investing team and ESG Regulatory Compliance, to manage and continuously improve and adapt ESG data processes including data collection, data transformation and reporting.
The role will help ensure that internal and external requirements are met, and scalable and efficient reporting is delivered. The role will act as the designated Data Steward for the Real Estate ESG data domain, accountable for defining and overseeing ESG data quality, governance and appropriate business use to support investment, client, regulatory and sustainability reporting requirements. The role will represent Real Estate ESG data requirements within relevant data management and governance activities across Fidelity, working with Data Management, Technology and other business stakeholders to support enterprise data quality, governance and reporting objectives.
ESG Data Management
- Own and continuously improve data quality, validation, completeness and escalation processes, in close collaboration with the real estate investment team and central Fidelity functions including establishing data quality expectations and governance standards, and monitoring the completeness, timeliness and quality of ESG data.
- Develop and monitor appropriate ESG data KPIs to measure progress, and remediation plans to ensure data remains accurate, complete, timely and fit for purpose. Ensure ESG data standards and controls are consistently applied across the data lifecycle.
- Oversee, manage and develop the real estate ESG data platform as a “power user”, working with a third party provider and FIL Platforms to maintain and enhance ESG data in this central database and develop accessible data solutions for internal teams to undertake analysis and reporting.
- Develop end-to-end business optimised data collection, data flows, governance and reporting, working with the real estate investment team and FIL Platforms. This will include devising strategies for tenant engagement and data collection of utility data consumption and other metrics and automating elements of data management as well as considering AI opportunities. The role includes co-ordinating data from external property managers and other external advisors as well as internal sources.
- Support the delivery of data and verification for acquisitions, ongoing asset management, analysis and reporting including by working closely with the real estate investment team to define scope of services and requirements for third parties providing data to Fidelity e.g. external ESG advisors or managing agents.
- Lead the annual data collection, co-ordination and submission and review processes for GRESB, delivering continuous improvement in reporting efficiency and results.
- Prepare the annual tenant questionnaire sustainability questions and collate the results.
Internal Reporting
- Deliver portfolio or asset ESG information and performance and risk insights.
- Prepare Quarterly Sustainability Review packs to enable discussion and challenge for each fund’s sustainability activities and progress against goals, including for board reporting and oversight groups.
- Deliver quarterly / annual reporting on sustainability progress against real estate or fund ESG goals such as decarbonisation.
- Provide input into internal data dashboards and client reporting design as well as self-service reporting tools.
- Support the preparation of data packs for asset passporting for sales and lettings.
External Client, Debt and Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare data packs for client or debt reporting requirements including ESG data insights, GRESB results and SFDR reporting for Article 6/8/9 funds and EU Taxonomy disclosures.
- Liaise with and support Fidelity’s central regulatory reporting team on real estate data delivery for TCFD, EET, PRI and other reporting.
About you
- Good understanding of data processes, including data quality standards, data collection and transformation.
- Experience in European real estate and ESG/sustainability.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- High degree of flexibility, comfortable and able to problem-solve in changing environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills and leadership capability.
- Fluency in English is required and another European language would be a benefit.
