About your team
The Fidelity Business Consulting (FBC) is a high-profile specialist team, acting as a strategy, business consulting and corporate development partner to all parts of the Fidelity International business (FIL). It participates in some of the most important and visible strategic initiatives within FIL, with daily interaction with the most senior leaders at FIL. The team supports senior leaders in the research, development, appraisal and execution of business strategies including but not limited to: enterprise vision and strategy, business unit and country strategy, segment strategy, strategic initiative development, resource planning and prioritisation, and performance measurement. The team also guides any corporate development, merger and acquisition and strategic partnership activity across the business. In addition, the FBC team are often called upon to execute 'special projects' that may sit outside of the normal scope of FIL's business. With a scope that is business-wide and global, the team has a unique vantage point from which to lead strategic analyses and projects across the full breadth and reach of the firm.
About your role
The Associate Director will be part of Fidelity Business Consulting's globally integrated team and is expected to lead multiple projects across a broad range of consultancy, strategy, and corporate development initiatives. This includes contributing to strategic projects, developing business plans, and supporting M&A activities. Whilst the role is based in London, occasional travel to other FIL locations may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Research & Analysis
- Continuously monitor and deliver insights on market trends, innovations, regulatory developments, and competitors that may have a material impact on the industry, markets, clients and future business propositions.
- Translate research into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Corporate Strategic Planning
- Support the periodic refresh of the firm's multi-year vision and strategy.
- Assist in preparing, refining and communicating the strategy to the Board and key stakeholders.
- Business Strategy, Strategic Initiatives & Project Delivery
- Lead strategy projects within partnership with senior sponsors (e.g. Business Unit Heads, Country-Leads and Divisional Leads).
- Use market analysis, customer insights and competitive benchmarking to develop strategic options and facilitate prioritisation through analysis and workshops.
- Scope, develop and lead key workstreams and firm-wide SMEs on major strategic initiatives or deliver smaller projects independently.
- Ensure clear project structure, high-quality outputs and effective stakeholder management.
- Merger & Acquisitions
- Lead development and assessment of inorganic opportunities, including evaluation, due diligence, deal execution, and post-merger integration when required.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build strong, trusted relationships across the global business.
- Engage effectively with senior executives, and business leaders, ensuring alignment, clarity and shared ownership of outcomes.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Strong financial and strategic acumen: MBA, CFA or an equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- Significant experience in strategy development, gained in a leading strategy consultancy, management consultancy or in-house strategy function.
- Knowledge of financial services industry, ideally with exposure to the asset and wealth management sector.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment.
- Highly analytical, collaborative, and able to work independently when required, brings a solutions focused, proactive mindset.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and operate effectively within matrix and cross-functional environments.
- Experience in leading, coaching and developing junior team members.
