Group Accountant / Financial Controller

Financial Services | 12-Month FTC (with perm potential) | Up to £90,000 | Hybrid | Immediate Start Required

We’re supporting a high‑growth, private‑equity‑backed financial services group in the search for an experienced Group Accountant / Financial Controller professional. This is a critical role for the business and they’re looking to have someone in seat before mid January.

The Role

You’ll lead the month‑end close across several legal entities, manage a small team, and deliver high‑quality group reporting. With ongoing acquisitions and continuous change, this is a role with genuine variety and senior visibility.

You’ll work closely with the Group Finance leadership team, partnering with FP&A, External Reporting and Audit, while helping to strengthen reporting processes and controls across the group.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the full month‑end close for multiple regulated and non‑regulated entities
• Oversee management accounting and group financial reporting
• Complete and review group consolidations and intercompany reconciliations
• Drive improvements in reporting processes, controls and documentation
• Manage, develop and mentor a team of four
• Partner with FP&A on variance analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders
• Contribute to M&A integration and broader finance change initiatives

What we’re looking for

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CA / CIMA)
• Strong financial services background (wealth mgmt, asset mgmt, banking or other FCA‑regulated environments)
• Solid experience running multi‑entity month‑end close
• Proven experience with group consolidations and intercompany
• Confident managing a small team
• Highly organised, hands‑on and calm under pressure
• Thrives in dynamic, fast‑changing, PE‑backed environments

Contract, Start Date & Progression

Because of the urgency, the business will only consider candidates who are:

• Immediate
• Package includes:
  1. 12‑month fixed‑term contract up to £90k base
  2. Strong potential to convert to permanent for the right person (could be straight perm)
  3. Hybrid working from a central London office
