Who are we? Fichtner is a global engineering consultancy founded in 1922, employing over 2,000 people across 170 countries. In Ireland and the UK, our engineers and consultants contribute to some of the most innovative energy projects, offering design, intellectual, and engineering services to developers, investors, owners, and operators.
Our projects include:
- 60 major thermal power plants, across the waste, biomass, and conventional power sectors
- 10 GWh of battery storage
- 5 GW of solar
- 7 GW of on-shore and off-shore wind
- 5 GWh of pumped storage hydro projects
- 20 carbon capture projects, aiming to capture and permanently sequestrate more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 per annum
We have over 185 employees that we are proud to have represent us, operating from our offices in Manchester, Belfast, Dublin, and Glasgow. As the business grows from strength to strength, we are now looking to further extend our team by recruiting an experienced Senior or Lead Consultant, with some travel in the UK, Ireland, and wider EU.
What we are looking for:
- A good chemical or mechanical engineering degree
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
- Solid experience post degree with direct involvement in the technical consultancy sector
- Experience gained from any area of renewable or thermal power generation or development, waste management operations or process plant management
- Proven experience with the multi-disciplinary delivery of small to very large projects, including budget management and delivery programs
- Some experience of carrying out technical due diligence on behalf of investors and/or vendors and/or public authorities (desirable)
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks for waste or renewable asset projects
- Good experience of construction projects and technical contract drafting
- Excellent communication skills, with experience of communicating effectively with both engineering and non-engineering professional audiences
- Full driving licence
- Competent computing skills using MS office suite
