Fichtner is global engineering consultancy established in 1922 with over 2000 employees over 170 countries. Within the UK and Ireland our engineers and consultants are involved in some of the most innovative energy projects across the UK providing design, intellectual, and engineering services to developers, investors, owners, and operators. Projects in development, construction, or operation in the UK and Ireland, include more than:

  • 60 major thermal power plants, across the waste, biomass, and conventional power sectors
  • 10 GWh of battery storage
  • 5 GW of solar
  • 7 GW of on-shore and off-shore wind
  • 5 GW of pumped storage hydro projects
  • 20 carbon capture projects, aiming to capture and permanently sequestrate more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 per annum

We have over 175 employees that we are proud to have represent us, operating from our offices in Manchester, Belfast, Dublin, and Glasgow. As the business grows from strength to strength, we are now looking to further extend our technical team by recruiting a senior engineer (power systems) to be based from our Stockport, Greater Manchester office.

What we are looking for:

  • A good degree in Power Systems Engineering
  • A deep understanding of power systems and their design. Analysis of transients, load flow, harmonics and stability
  • Significant experience, post-qualification, in power engineering and analysis within a consultancy, industrial, utility or equipment manufacturer organisation
  • Competent in the use of modelling software such as Power Factory, ETAP, IPSA or Dig-silent
  • Experience with the undertaking of feasibility studies and detailed design reviews
  • Full driving licence – able to travel in the UK and occasionally, for short durations, the EU
  • Living in the Greater Manchester area, or willing to relocate
  • Full right to work in the UK
