We're currently looking to fill a number of MDU Engineer roles across Gloucestershire.
An MDU Fibre Engineer installs, splices, and tests fibre optic infrastructure within Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), delivering high-quality internal and external fibre installations that meet client specifications and regulatory standards. The role involves providing end-to-end fibre connectivity from external network access points through risers and communal areas to individual properties.
Responsibilities include:
- Fibre splicing and testing
- Structured cabling installation
- PoE device configuration
- The deployment of specialist containment systems such as Easy-Bend and InvisiLight solutions
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to agreed quality standards

What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in civil works within the telecoms or utilities sectors
- Mandatory qualifications to meet our contractual and safety requirements
- A commitment to high standards of work and health & safety
- A collaborative, proactive approach to team projects
- A driving license is essential due to the nature of this role
- Flexibility to work overtime, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Overtime is paid at an additional rate
MDU Engineer Responsibilities:
- Install internal and external fibre optic cabling within Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), including risers, corridors, and individual apartments
- Carry out fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and power meter testing to verify network performance and link integrity
- Install and tension catenary wire systems to support external and open-span fibre routes
- Install, terminate, and maintain Easy-Bend and InvisiLight fibre solutions in residential and commercial environments
- Complete PoE (Power over Ethernet) cabling and device installations, including switches, CCTV cameras, and wireless access points
- Install containment systems such as trunking, conduit, basket tray, and fibre management solutions in line with building standards and specifications
- Read and interpret network schematics, floor plans, and installation drawings to ensure accurate deployment
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys and produce accurate as-built documentation upon completion of works
- Liaise professionally with building management, residents, clients, and supervisors to coordinate site access and installation activities
- Adhere to company RAMS, NRSWA, and Health & Safety regulations, reporting hazards, incidents, or non-conformances immediately
- Complete daily work reports, test records, and photographic evidence to maintain quality assurance and project compliance

- NRSWA Full Street Works U1-9
- SA002, SA006, SA007, SA020, K8, N29
- First Aid at Work
- MT003
The role is available on an agreed day rate basis or on a price-work basis. Price work can be paid, including or excluding the kit. Prices to be agreed at the interview.
