Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a MDU Fibre Engineer covering sites across parts of the UK.
The locations of work ranges from Central / Greater London, Essex, East anglia, Herts and bucks, Midlands and surrounding areas.
The MDU Fibre engineer will be responsible for the installation, termination & maintenance of fibre optic networks in multi-dwelling units (MDUs). Daily tasks include but are not limited too – internal and external fibre cabling with Invisilight and EZ bend, Fire-stopping, installing catenary wire via ladders and Abseiling, fiber splicing DPs, ODFs and POEs, testing and troubleshooting fibres via power meter and IOLM testing, completing site reports and collaborating with team members / Supervisors to ensure high-quality service delivery.
The engineer will also be in charge of documenting work and maintaining compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications & Experiance
- Experience with fibre optic installation, splicing, and maintenance
- Openreach accreditations such as N029, N023, SA020, Ukata asbestos, SA002
- Working in a residential / business environment beneficial
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices in telecommunications
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with MDU installations and telecom infrastructure is a plus
- Relevant certifications in fibre optics or telecommunications engineering
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various sites
