Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable SSSTS certified Working Foreman to oversee and actively participate in the installation of balustrades on a construction project in Wood Green, London. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a small team, ensuring work is carried out safely, to spec, and on schedule while also taking part in hands-on installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a team of installers on site.
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to ensure accurate installation.
- Monitor quality of work and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Liaise with site managers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Carry out hands-on balustrade installation (glass, stainless steel, or other systems).
- Conduct daily briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure all operatives follow site rules and wear correct PPE.
- Report progress, issues, and material needs to the site management team.
Requirements
- Valid SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certificate
- Proven experience as a working foreman in the construction industry
- Strong background in balustrade installation (metal, glass, or architectural systems)
- Ability to lead by example and manage small teams
- Good understanding of H&S legislation and site procedures
- Valid CSCS card (preferably skilled worker or supervisor level)
- Own tools and PPE
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- First Aid certificate
- Manual Handling or other H&S training
- Familiarity with architectural drawings/CAD
- Experience working in London construction environments
