An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled HGV Technician to join a busy Motor Transport workshop operating within an airport environment. This role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, mobile plant and specialist equipment to support airport operations and business partners. You will be working to high technical and safety standards, using advanced diagnostic techniques while contributing to the reliability, safety and efficiency of a diverse fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, examine and report on the condition, safety and roadworthiness of vehicles, mobile plant and equipment
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs to maximise vehicle availability and lifespan
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults using logical and progressive diagnostic techniques
- Work safely and efficiently using approved tools, equipment and facilities
- Interpret and apply technical service data and statutory standards, exceeding minimum compliance levels
- Modify vehicles or mobile plant to meet operational requirements
- Manufacture simple component parts to a high standard of accuracy
- Plan and prioritise your own workload to deliver high levels of service
- Communicate with internal customers, providing estimates and progress updates
- Drive and operate a wide range of vehicles and mobile plant
- Arrange collection/delivery of vehicles and parts as required
- Recover broken‑down or immobilised vehicles safely and effectively
- Record work activity and parts usage using IT systems
- Support and mentor apprentices and trainees when required
- Maintain a proactive approach to health and safety
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet operational demands

- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team

- IT literate with experience recording work digitally
