HGV Class 2 Driver / Refueller / Shunter
Location: Luton Airport
Salary: £29,500 (rising to £32,168.72 after probation)
Shifts: 4 on / 4 off, 05:30 – 17:30
Role Summary
You must hold a HGV Class 2 licence or a valid ADR and have a maximum of four jobs over five years for airport referencing. Looking for someone with recent experience in a driving capacity. We are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 2 Driver / Refueller / Shunter to join our client\’s team at Luton Airport. This varied role is essential in supporting the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) operation, ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe, fuelled, and ready for use.
You will be responsible for refuelling vehicles and equipment, carrying out essential checks (oil, water, hydraulic fluids, battery water top‑ups), and moving vehicles between locations. The role also involves supporting workshop technicians with general duties, collecting and delivering parts, assisting with inspections, and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Terms of Employment
- Salary: £29,500 per annum, rising to £32,168.72 after successful completion of 6‑month probation
- Shifts: 4 on / 4 off, 05:30 – 17:30 (12‑hour shifts)
- During Training Period: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30
- Contract Type: Full‑time, permanent
- Essential Requirement: Full UK driving licence
About You
- Full valid UK Driving Licence (essential)
- LGV Class 2 licence (desirable)
- ADR Certificate / hazardous loads knowledge (advantageous)
- Flexible and reliable with strong awareness of safety procedures
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
Key Responsibilities
- Refuel vehicles and equipment, recording fuel quantities, fleet numbers, hours run, and mileage
- Carry out daily checks: oil, water, hydraulic fluids, and EV battery distilled water top‑ups
- Shunt and ferry vehicles safely across airport locations
- Assist GSE technicians with preparatory work and general workshop duties
- Collect and deliver spare parts as required
- Support with inspections and ensure records are kept accurately
- Quarantine and report defective tools or equipment
- Maintain workshop vehicles in good order
- Use the company time scanning system correctly and report any issues promptly
