Position Overview

The purpose of the General Technician I position is to operate multiple machines depending on departmental needs to cover workload, vacations, and other challenges. Training, flexibility, and mechanical aptitude are required to learn various machines.

Job Duties

  1. Operate proficiently a group of machines including Saw, Brinnell, ID Blast, and OD Blast Cleaning as assigned by Group Lead and/or Foreman.
  2. Handle materials as required.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  2. Ability to read/write and comprehend instructions, use computers for data entry.
  3. Certification in overhead crane operation, inspection, forklift, and lifts.
  4. Hazcom and other machine-specific safety training.
  5. Ability to follow Production Data Sheets or Routing sheets, record information, and perform basic data entry into inventory systems.
  6. Ability to read and calculate weights from scales, read measuring tapes, and perform basic math.
  7. Capable of differentiating steel grades and products.
  8. Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and use overhead cranes.

Additional Information

Work objectives are set by immediate supervisor. Adherence to standard operating procedures is required.
