Position Overview
The purpose of the General Technician I position is to operate multiple machines depending on departmental needs to cover workload, vacations, and other challenges. Training, flexibility, and mechanical aptitude are required to learn various machines.
Job Duties
- Operate proficiently a group of machines including Saw, Brinnell, ID Blast, and OD Blast Cleaning as assigned by Group Lead and/or Foreman.
- Handle materials as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Ability to read/write and comprehend instructions, use computers for data entry.
- Certification in overhead crane operation, inspection, forklift, and lifts.
- Hazcom and other machine-specific safety training.
- Ability to follow Production Data Sheets or Routing sheets, record information, and perform basic data entry into inventory systems.
- Ability to read and calculate weights from scales, read measuring tapes, and perform basic math.
- Capable of differentiating steel grades and products.
- Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and use overhead cranes.
Additional Information
Work objectives are set by immediate supervisor. Adherence to standard operating procedures is required.
