Are you ready to lead the charge in intelligent automation for the world's fastest-growing motorsport? We are looking for a talented AI Engineer to drive the development of advanced AI agents and maintain the critical data infrastructure that powers them.
About Formula E: Formula E, the world's fastest-growing sport, is redefining motorsport with a bold focus on innovation and sustainability. Hosting over 100 races in iconic cities globally and backed by top manufacturers like Porsche and Jaguar, we feature elite drivers and cutting-edge EV technology. As the world's first sport certified Net Zero Carbon from inception, Formula E combines thrilling entertainment with a mission to advance sustainable progress, inspiring a global fanbase with our high-performance brand new GEN3 EVO race car capable of 0-60mph in 1.82 seconds (0-100kph in 1.86s). Using the spectacle of sport, we are sending a powerful and meaningful message to help alter perceptions and speed up the switch to electric mobility. Welcome to the home of Global Electric Street Racing.
The Role: Sitting at the heart of our exciting Google Cloud partnership, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI applications. This role isn’t just about building models; it’s about creating autonomous orchestration frameworks that automate complex workflows and revolutionise how we engage with fans and partners. From prompt engineering to full-scale deployment, you will put cutting-edge technology—like Gemini's multimodal capabilities—into the hands of our racing and technical teams.
The key deliverables are:
- AI Agent Development: Design and deploy autonomous AI agents and orchestration frameworks to enhance fan engagement and automate internal workflows.
- GCP Infrastructure: Build and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to provide real-time context for AI applications.
- Generative AI Implementation: Leverage the full Google suite, including Vertex AI and Agent Builder, to create production-ready RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems and LLM-powered tools.
- Data Modelling for AI: Develop and optimise vector databases and data models tailored specifically for high-efficiency AI retrieval and LLM performance.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with racing and technical teams to identify high-impact opportunities for agentic automation and translate those into robust technical solutions.
- High-Standard Deployment: Take accountability for the performance, safety, and documentation of all AI deployments, ensuring low-latency access for models.
What we’re looking for in you: You are a proactive, strategic problem solver who thrives in a high-velocity environment where AI technology evolves on a weekly basis. You are an innovator who can bridge the gap between technical AI development and non-technical stakeholders to deliver high-value results.
What You’ll Bring:
- AI & GCP Expertise: Proven experience building AI applications on GCP, with essential deep experience in Vertex AI (Model Garden, Studio, and Search) and Gemini models.
- Agentic Frameworks: Proficiency in developing AI agents using Vertex AI Agent Builder, LangChain, or similar orchestration tools.
- Advanced Programming: Strong Python skills focused on AI integration, API development, and data engineering for Large Language Models.
- Data Architecture: Experience building RAG architectures and managing modern data flows, including Vector Databases, SQL, BigQuery, and Cloud Run/Functions.
- LLM Fundamentals: A solid understanding of LLM architectures, context window management, and grounding techniques to minimise hallucinations.
- Engineering Best Practices: Strong experience with Git, CI/CD, and version control for both code and model prompts. A relevant Google Cloud certification would be highly beneficial.
What’s in it for you? At Formula E, we offer a range of benefits and perks to enable you to make an impact in your role and to support your wellbeing and professional growth.
