Job Description:
Based at Microchip’s office located in Winnersh, Berkshire
This position is based permanently onsite, and does not include any remote working option, due to the nature of the role.
Job Purpose
To manage the import of Microchip products into the local Customs warehouse ensuring that they arrive at the earliest opportunity.
To be responsible for the daily shipment of customer orders, from the local Customs warehouse to clients across the EMEA territory, ensuring that they are delivered to the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantity, always complying with prevailing Customs (HMRC) and Export Control regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Import
• Manage inbound shipment pre-alerts from suppliers
• Identify and record any controlled dual-use items that may require export licenses
• Coordinate with the warehouse team to plan deliveries into the onsite Customs warehouse
• Ensure that all goods are received into the ERP system (Baan) in a timely manner after confirmation of receipt by the warehouse team.
• Maintain receipts into the HMRC Customs & Warehouse Management System (Langdon) in a timely manner
• Own the process of receipting local inventory, management of stock transfers & discrepancies
• Address any shortages or damages as appropriate
Shipping
• Finalise and prepare all daily shipments within Baan
• Print and prepare delivery notes / shipping labels for all distributor and OEM shipments.
• Coordinate and communicate with the warehouse team to ensure they are fully aware of daily requirements for pick/ship/collection
• Prepare National Export System (NES) declarations where relevant
• Complete end of day traffic review
General
• Establish strong relationships with freight forwarders and customs brokers
• Check inventory levels, scheduling and order allocations
• Allocate orders for Development Tools and Silicon
• Assist other team members as required
• Work with management to review, plan and suggest areas of improvement within Microchip’s supply chain that increase productivity and efficiency, reduce external cost and improve customer service. This includes data preparation from automated sources
• Review UK Customs Export Declarations made by freight forwarders on Microchip’s behalf, and collect Proof Of Delivery (POD) for each shipment dispatched, in a systemized manner to ensure compliance with external HMRC reporting obligations
• Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time

Requirements/Qualifications:
Essential:
• Proficient in Microsoft office (Word & Outlook)
• Demonstrable advanced level Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience of using inventory management software (ERP system)
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with a good eye for detail and a challenging mindset
• Maintain a very high level of accuracy in your work
• Able to communicate effectively and confidently with both internal & external clients and suppliers
• Must be self-motivated and a good team player
• Must demonstrate good time management and prioritisation skills
• Is flexible and able to re-prioritise when necessary
• Is able to work well in a time-sensitive environment
• Must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, as well as on his/her own initiative
• Willingness to take on colleagues’ tasks when the need arises, and to provide cover during periods of absence
• A flexible approach to working hours on limited occasions
Desirable:
At least 3 years of experience in a similar role of handling international shipments and logistics, with a good understanding of prevailing UK Import Regulations and legislation
• A 5 year checkable working history
• Previous experience of working within an HMRC controlled warehouse environment understanding the legal regulations and requirements.
• A working knowledge of Incoterms and their implications within a supply chain
• Export control compliance understanding (Dual Use, ECCN, HTS, Export Licensing, EAR)
• A recognised qualification in a relevant competency
• Experience of Baan or other similar ERP system
