Assistant Livestock Manager (Beef Cattle)
FGS Agri Ltd is a leading Kent-based agricultural contracting business, delivering a wide range of high-quality agricultural services across the region. We are proud of our practical, professional approach and our commitment to excellent livestock welfare.
We are now looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Livestock Manager to join our beef cattle team on a full-time, permanent basis, working closely with the Livestock Manager to support the day-to-day care and management of the herd.
The role offers a varied, hands-on opportunity within a progressive livestock enterprise. We currently block calve around 350 cattle in March/April and 75 in September/October, breed from our own replacement heifers, and buy cattle in to finish, including at least 200 rearing calves on machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor livestock daily, supporting herd health, welfare and productivity, and identifying any concerns promptly.
- Assist with calving seasons, including calf health, welfare, handling and tagging.
- Weigh, vaccinate and handle livestock safely and confidently.
- Maintain clean, safe and well-presented yards, feed troughs, water points, facilities and equipment.
- Work closely with the Livestock Manager and wider team to ensure high standards across the enterprise.
What We Are Looking For
- 3 to 5 years' previous experience in a similar stock handling or livestock role.
- A strong eye for detail and a genuine commitment to animal health and welfare.
- Good physical fitness and confidence working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A valid manual driving licence.
- A telehandler ticket is desirable, but not essential, as training can be provided.
