ABOUT THE ROLE
To plan and merchandise product ranges which satisfy customer requirements and deliver the core values and attributes of the Brand(s); manages an Assistant Merchandiser/Merchandise Assistant to meet current and future sales, margin and stock targets within budget.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Trading
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of departmental performance.
- Review weekly trading performance and KPI's, identify issues and recommend actions in preparation for weekly trade meetings with the wider team.
- Review daily and weekly sales performance and action rebuy and markdown where required.
- Manage markdown activity for relevant wholesale departments.
- Manage commitment and stock levels across all sources to ensure targets are met and operational efficiency achieved, highlight any issues to the Merchandising Manager.
- Ensure the WSSI tool is accurate and reflects the departments most up to date sales, stock and intake forecasts.
- Develop strong working relationships with key external brands to ensure best possible offering, frequent newness, maximum availability and achieved target sell through.
- Review style level performance on a weekly basis with recommendations for delivery re-phasing, repeats, price amendments, quantity adjustments, to ensure sales are maximised and mark-down minimised.
- With the Assistant merchandiser, manage the delivery schedule, identifying and mitigating risk to ensure accurate intake of stock according to plan levels, provide weekly updates intake.
- Prepare and collate regular feedback to the Buying Team regarding current performance and emerging trends in order to maximise sales.
- Alongside the buying team manage range curation to ensure options are within planned parameters and maximum availability is maintained.
- To assist in department seasonal strategy, providing detailed analysis of historical KPI’s, identifying opportunity, highlighting any risk.
- Create range plans for key brands including option levels and stock flow, in line with overall season strategy.
- Proactively communicate current and future department plans cross functionally to ensure full understanding.
- Agree objectives with direct reports, manage their performance and provide advice and guidance so they can function effectively and develop within their roles.
- Deputise for the Merchandiser/Merchandising Manager in their absence – maintain overall knowledge of the department performance.

ABOUT YOU
- Experience at Junior Merch level or Senior Assistant merch, with experience managing own departments.
- Highly developed analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent PC skills, with experience of working with Financial/Analytical tools.
- Experience of using a WSSI.
- Detailed analysis of complex data for business decision making.
- Balancing the pre-season planning with the in-trading requirements – proactive versus reactive.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise effectively whilst working at pace.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Flexible and positive attitude and approach to work.
- Ability to work on own initiative or as directed.
