Customs Operations Manager
FGH Listerhills Warehouse, Thornton Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD8 8LG. Parking available onsite. Hybrid flexibility to work a minimum of 2 days in the warehouse and the remainder from home.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Customs Operations Manager to join our Warehouse and Logistics Team, where you will manage the operational procedures relating to HMRC controlled imports. This includes tariff classification, customs declarations, and the Duty Management System (bonded warehouse).
We are looking for someone with experience of tariff classification and completing customs entries. You will be highly organised with a keen eye for detail.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure all tasks are fulfilled in-line with HMRC regulation and processes defined as part of the company’s AEO certification.
- Classify all merchandise in line with HMRC guidelines and legislation, maintaining up-to-date knowledge.
- Maintain changes to the UK HMRC tariff on internal systems and the DMS.
- Complete accurate and timely HMRC clearance declarations via the Langdons Duty Management System (DMS) for our Bonded Warehouse; identify and resolve problems to ensure month-end deadlines are met.
- Work with Import Offices, suppliers, forwarders, and the Buying team to ensure correct documentation for each shipment.
- Maintain accurate and auditable files for all import shipments for HMRC audits or duty claims.
- Ensure submissions of frontier declarations to HMRC by forwarders are correct and complete.
- Monitor the use of the HMRC deferment account by third parties to ensure correct Customs Duty and VAT payments.
- Arrange export shipments.
- Deputise for the Imports Manager and provide cover for the Freight Operations Manager.
- Organise and maintain departmental archives.
- Control the creation and release of Transit documentation for arrivals and exports.
- Deal independently with queries/requests from HMRC while ensuring accurate information is supplied.
- Participate in meetings with relevant process stakeholders as required.
- Work on projects as required.
- Commit to the fair treatment of customers at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable UK and local regulations, company policies and FCA conduct rules.
