About The Role
We have a great opportunity for an experienced PMO Lead to join the FGH Value Delivery Office (VDO) where you will support the Head of VDO with the successful delivery and reporting of FGH’s projects.
Accountabilities
- Leadership
- Effective line management of VDO Office support colleagues within the VDO function providing leadership, project office management subject matter expertise and mentoring to colleagues to develop and maintain a high performing team.
- Understand and communicate to direct reports the strategic importance of the Project Management Office and the wider Value Delivery Office function in terms of how the function aligns to and contributes to FGH’s strategic objectives.
- Foster a collaborative, proactive and dynamic/adaptable team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.
- PMO Subject Matter Expertise
- Own, develop and implement PMO frameworks, methodologies, documentation and best practices.
- Support the Head of VDO with project delivery by ensuring there is consistent use of the lifecycle, the agreed tools and templates.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to project managers and teams with regards to the usage of the project lifecycle, the agreed tools and templates.
- Reporting
- Support the Head of VDO in relation to Portfolio reporting as required but in particular, to inputs required for the EMT.
- Establish and maintain project level reporting, designed specifically to meet the needs of different audiences, including project teams and stakeholders, VDO core team, and the EMT / SLT membership.
- Resource Management
- Ensure that the resource management tool for FGH projects is maintained and used as an effective decision-making tool (relating to scheduling, prioritisation, resource allocation decisions) and also supports Finance with the capitalisation process.
- Governance
- Ensure project governance at the appropriate cadence is in place for each of the projects and documented at initiation stage.
- Work with the Project Managers to ensure the lifecycle is followed and that the stage gate process is followed and projects flow through each stage smoothly, with criteria met.
- Ensure that project-level risks are identified, assessed and treated in line with FGH’s risk management policy. Ensure escalation of risks into the appropriate governance forum.
- Ensure that any common risk themes appearing at project level are aggregated to portfolio and raised with the Head of VDO.
- Stakeholder Management
- Champion the Value Delivery Office across FGH functions, communicating and promoting how it adds value and enables delivery of FGH’s strategic objectives.
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with FGH functions ensuring RACI and hand-offs through the project delivery lifecycle are well understood, across teams and functions including Technology, Digital Experience, VDO Core Team members and other business stakeholders directly involved in project delivery.
About You
- Able to commute to Bradford City Centre 2 days per week.
- Confident and proficient in the application of structured project management methods, tools and techniques with a recognised PM qualification such as APMG Agile PM, APM Project Management, Prince 2 or PMO qualification P3M3, P3O.
- Competent of Word, Excel, PowerPoint; able to create and maintain up tables, spreadsheets, graphs etc.
- Solid commercial understanding of business and retailing, in order to communicate and promote the value add of the VDO function.
- Previous experience (min 5 years) within a similar PMO role in retail or a similar fast paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels, both internally and with third parties.
- Management of cross-functional, multi-disciplined personnel (matrix), displaying leadership, motivational and coaching skills.
- Flexible and proactive approach to change, encouraging innovation and presenting change positively.
- Strategic thinking skills, able to place Transformation activity in an organisational context.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong planning, analytical and reporting skills, able to assimilate complex information and present recommendations.
- Strong awareness of business analysis and business change best practises.
- Previous experience of leading within a customer facing digital business.
- Practical experience across Project & Software Development Lifecycles (Agile/Hybrid/Waterfall) and associated tools; techniques; methods.
