At Ffern, film is not just something you watch. It's how a season unfolds - how a place, a feeling, a moment is carried. We're looking for a Midweight Creative / Art Director to help shape that work from first thought to final frame. You'll come from a premium commercial background - we’re looking for Creatives or Art Directors who have worked at an agency, production company or brand studio - with the experience to develop a creative idea and see it through with integrity intact.

You’ll sit within Ffern's Film Studio, working closely with producers and our in-house creative team. Your job is to ensure every film is conceptually clear, visually refined and - above all - unmistakably Ffern.

What you’ll be doing:

  • From treatments, director shortlists to on‑set art direction and shaping edits, you'll help support Ffern’s film output end to end.
  • Working closely with the Head of Film, you’ll help ensure that our visual handwriting and cinematic language is adhered to across all our film outputs.
  • You’ll play an important role in the end‑to‑end creative process across assigned briefs, from research and ideation through to shoot and post‑production.
  • This includes conducting visual research, developing creative ideas and references, and creating high‑quality treatments and concept presentations that clearly articulate the visual direction for each season’s films.

Who we're looking for:

  • We’re looking for someone with an interest in contemporary directors, photography, film and visual culture.
  • You’ll help identify and engage the right collaborators - including directors, HODs and external creative talent - while building strong relationships across our creative network and working closely with Production to shape each project team.
  • Each Ffern film is shaped by a carefully considered brief, combining visual references, playlists and storytelling cues.
  • You’ll help develop these briefs and contribute to evolving style guides across our film categories to ensure consistency in our visual language and creative approach.
  • In pre‑production and on‑set, you’ll help shape creative direction while refining the details within each frame - from palette, props and locations to costume and lighting - ensuring all content aligns with the approved vision and feels elevated, distinctive and unmistakably Ffern.
  • In post‑production, you’ll review edits, and contribute feedback across grading and finishing to maintain consistency and quality across all outputs.
  • Working across multiple projects and timelines, you’ll stay connected to global trends, cinema and wider cultural movements to bring fresh and innovative ideas into the work.

What you need to apply:

  • 3+ years’ experience within luxury, creative production, a production company, agency or brand studio environment.
  • Proven experience in Art Direction across moving image, with a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating concept development, visual sensibility and confident treatment‑writing.
  • A refined creative point of view with the ability to balance elevated brand storytelling and commercial objectives.
  • Strong eye for design, layout, typography, colour and cinematic composition.
  • Experience working on set and directing or supporting creative execution across film and content shoots.
  • Strong experience sourcing and collaborating with creatives, directors, producers and Heads of Department.
  • A solid understanding of production craft and post‑production workflows.
  • Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Keynote, Google Suite and Notion; Adobe Creative Suite and broader Adobe CC knowledge.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workflows and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Curious, culturally aware.
  • Willingness to travel for UK and international shoots; a full UK driving licence is a bonus.
