About this Role:
A hands-on and dynamic role assisting the Head of Legal with a focus on dispute resolution, including representing the business and clients in FTT applications and County Court claims. There are major changes to the laws affecting property management, and you will be heavily involved in formulating and providing advice to the wider business on how we prepare for this new era.
Main Duties and Objectives:
- Representing the business and clients in First Tier Tribunal applications, including preparing and submitting applications and defences, attending hearings and where necessary instructing and managing external solicitors.
- Representing the business and clients in the Small Claims Court and lower track County Court claims, including preparing and submitting applications and defences, attending hearings and where relevant instructing and managing external solicitors or instructing counsel where necessary.
- Working with staff from other teams to identify and de-escalate complaints.
Knowledge Management:
- Working with AI where possible to manage cases and create a knowledge bank for dispute and claim management.
- Assisting Head of Legal with preparation of regular legal updates to keep staff informed of key legal news, and preparation and management of basic legal skills database.
Team Working:
- Mentoring junior team members to provide skills and confidence to manage basic claims.
- Providing assistance on interpretation of property documents to other teams within the business.
Proven experience in residential property litigation, including preparing and managing applications and responses to the First Tier Tribunal.
Strong literacy and communication skills.
Strong IT skills and adaptability to work with new systems.
Bonus Skills:
- Qualified legal executive or solicitor.
- Membership of TPI and/or RICS.
- Experience in writing guidance/briefing notes for staff and clients.
- Experience of managing and mentoring junior staff.
