The best leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders. This role is the embodiment of that principle. It’s not about maintaining the status quo; it’s about building the platform—and the people—that will power the next chapter of growth for an established business thinking like a startup.
Few&Far are partnering with a Sunday Times 'Best Place to Work' that is entering a pivotal scale-up phase. They have the solid foundation and customer base of a corporate, but operate with the agility, ambition, and startup mindset of a much younger company. They need a leader to architect their technical future.
Here’s what’s cool about them:
- The Culture: A recognised 'Best Place to Work' with a remote-first, UK-based team. They are problem-solvers, not ticket-takers.
- The Scale & Impact: You won't just be keeping the lights on. You'll be developing the data platform strategy from the ground up and taking ownership of critical infrastructure that serves thousands of practices.
- The Tech: They’re leveraging the latest tech, including AI and LLMs, to solve real-world problems and change the face of an entire industry.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Manage and mentor approximately 10 engineers across two key teams.
- Take ownership of the platform engineering roadmap, with a sharp focus on infrastructure management, cost optimisation, and reliability.
- Partner closely with the Head of Data to define and build the long-term data platform strategy.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, expertly juggling a high volume of parallel requests and initiatives to keep pace with business ambition.
Here’s what they are looking for:
- A proven Engineering Manager experience in a growth-stage or mature SaaS company.
- A solid background in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering is ideal. A Product Engineering Manager with a strong infrastructure affinity will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS is a plus).
- A leader who has thrived in a transition-phase company—you know how to build and scale systems and teams, not just maintain them.
