We’re hiring a Data Platform Lead to own and evolve a mission-critical data platform for a profitable, high-scale digital marketplace operating across the UK and US. This is a hands-on leadership role combining deep technical ownership with people management and strategic influence.
You’ll take end-to-end responsibility for the data platform covering pipelines, models, governance and analytics, ensuring the business can make confident, data-driven decisions at scale. You’ll report directly to the VP of Data & Insights and lead a small, high-impact team.

What You’ll Do
- Own the data platform end-to-end: ingestion, transformation, modelling, orchestration and governance.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3 Data / Analytics Engineers.
- Stay hands-on, especially around data modelling and platform architecture.
- Partner closely with analytics, data science and product teams in a data-mesh style environment.
- Ensure the platform is robust, scalable, and business-ready.
- Support and enable BI, experimentation, pricing and ML workloads.
- Drive improvements to data quality, documentation, testing and standards.
- Contribute to the company’s AI and ML ambitions, ensuring data structures are fit for modern use cases.

What We’re Looking For...
- Strong experience owning or operating a production data warehouse.
- Excellent SQL and strong data modelling skills.
- Hands-on experience with ETL / ELT pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python or R.
- Familiarity with dbt Cloud and Airflow.
- Experience integrating ML or AI outputs into analytics platforms.
- Background in high-volume, transactional or consumer platforms working with large datasets.
- Curiosity about AI / ML and how modern tooling can enhance data workflows.
- Leadership of a small team (1+ person).
Nice to Have
- Experience with CDC or event-driven architectures.
- Exposure to domains such as payments, marketplaces, travel, banking or e-commerce.
Working Pattern & Package
- Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in a Central London office (Kings Cross).
- Salary: Up to £110,000 base (dependent on experience) + Competitive benefits package.
