You’ll take end-to-end responsibility for the data platform covering pipelines, models, governance and analytics, ensuring the business can make confident, data-driven decisions at scale. You’ll report directly to the VP of Data & Insights and lead a small, high-impact team.

Why This Role Matters

  • The platform supports millions of users and hundreds of millions in annual transaction volume.
  • The business is profitable, well-established, and continuing to scale internationally.
  • Data is embedded into pricing, product decisions, experimentation, and operational tooling.
  • You’ll modernise and future-proof the data model while enabling advanced analytics, ML and AI use cases.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the data platform end-to-end: ingestion, transformation, modelling, orchestration and governance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 3 Data / Analytics Engineers.
  • Stay hands-on, especially around data modelling and platform architecture.
  • Partner closely with analytics, data science and product teams in a data-mesh style environment.
  • Ensure the platform is robust, scalable, and business-ready.
  • Support and enable BI, experimentation, pricing and ML workloads.
  • Drive improvements to data quality, documentation, testing and standards.
  • Contribute to the company’s AI and ML ambitions, ensuring data structures are fit for modern use cases.

Tech Environment

  • Cloud Data warehouse: BigQuery
  • Transformation & modelling: dbt (dbt Cloud)
  • Languages: SQL, Python, R
  • Orchestration: Airflow
  • Pipelines: ELT / ETL, event-driven systems
  • Analytics & BI

What We’re Looking For...

  • Strong experience owning or operating a production data warehouse.
  • Excellent SQL and strong data modelling skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL / ELT pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python or R.
  • Familiarity with dbt Cloud and Airflow.
  • Experience integrating ML or AI outputs into analytics platforms.
  • Background in high-volume, transactional or consumer platforms working with large datasets.
  • Curiosity about AI / ML and how modern tooling can enhance data workflows.
  • Leadership of a small team (1+ person).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CDC or event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to domains such as payments, marketplaces, travel, banking or e-commerce.

Working Pattern & Package

  • Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in a Central London office (Kings Cross).
  • Salary: Up to £110,000 base (dependent on experience) + Competitive benefits package.
