Fully Remote (UK) | Occasional Team Offsites

I'm partnered with a fast-growing UK company transforming the way people buy cars. They are reimagining the customer experience through technology, automation and AI. They're looking for a Senior QA Engineer (Automation) to become the dedicated owner for one of their most exciting product areas, a team building the future of customer contact through conversational AI, intelligent routing and next-generation self-service experiences. This is a rare opportunity to own quality from the ground up, helping define how AI-powered customer journeys are tested in a highly regulated environment.

The Opportunity

You'll be the sole QA embedded within a small, cross-functional product team responsible for transforming how customers interact with the business. Over the next 18 months, the team will deliver an ambitious roadmap including:

  • A complete IVR transformation
  • Conversational AI experiences
  • Live Chat and messaging channels
  • AI-powered knowledge capabilities
  • Ongoing LLM enhancements
  • Smarter customer routing and automation

Working alongside Product and Engineering, you'll define the testing strategy, build automation from scratch and become the independent voice of quality for every release. This isn't a role where you'll inherit existing frameworks, you’ll help create them.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own QA for a customer-facing conversational AI platform
  • Design and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans and test cases
  • Test conversational journeys, prompt behaviour and customer interactions
  • Validate AI-generated responses, identifying incorrect, inconsistent or unexpected outputs
  • Test complex routing logic across customer journeys and decision trees
  • Build and maintain automated regression suites using Virtuoso
  • Carry out API and integration testing across connected systems, including Salesforce
  • Design meaningful test data to replicate real customer scenarios
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to influence quality throughout the development lifecycle
  • Support wider QA initiatives across other product teams between major releases

What They're Looking For

  • 5 years experience in software testing and enjoy working in product-focused engineering teams.
  • Strong experience building test strategies from scratch
  • A solid foundation in functional, integration and API testing
  • Experience creating and maintaining test automation
  • Excellent analytical thinking and a methodical approach to testing
  • Confidence working as the sole QA within a delivery team
  • The ability to balance thoroughness with pragmatism in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience with conversational AI, chatbots or IVR
  • Curiosity, adaptability and the ability to apply great testing principles to emerging technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Salesforce integrations
  • Experience within regulated industries, particularly financial services
  • Virtuoso or similar low-code automation tools
  • Experience testing complex customer journeys

Why Join?

Quality plays a critical role in this team. The products you'll be testing directly support customers through important financial journeys, meaning quality isn't just about finding bugs, it's about delivering safe, reliable and compliant customer experiences. You'll join a collaborative QA function while remaining the dedicated quality expert for your product area, giving you the autonomy to shape testing practices and influence how AI-powered customer experiences are delivered. If you enjoy ownership, solving new testing challenges and working with modern technologies in a product-led environment, this role offers a genuine opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Package

  • Up to £60,000 salary
  • Fully remote within the UK
  • Occasional team offsites (travel covered)
  • Private medical insurance
  • Health cash plan
  • Pension contribution
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Enhanced company sick pay
  • Employee wellbeing support
  • Volunteer day
  • Employee discounts

How to prepare for a job interview at Few&Far

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Few&Far uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
