Imagine building the engineering function that will help scale a lender to new heights. That's the challenge on the table.

My client is an independent lender with its own technology platform, a track record of strong growth and the backing of a well-established bank. Now, they need an Engineering Manager to bridge the gap between startup agility and bank-grade stability.

You'll be reporting directly to the CTO and stepping in to handle the stakeholder management and engineering delivery that will allow the company to scale significantly over the coming years.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Take over day-to-day engineering leadership for a growing squad of engineers.
  • Own the people management, 1:1s, and hiring so the CTO can focus on long term technical vision.
  • Help build the engineering rituals that allow for high-velocity delivery inside a regulated environment.
  • You'll be shaping the culture from the ground up.
  • You won't be writing code every day, but you'll need to hold your own in deep technical architecture discussions.

Here’s what they are looking for:

  • You're likely in your first or second management role.
  • You're technical at heart, but get your energy from unblocking others, managing processes, and building high performing teams.
  • You've worked in fintech or a highly regulated environment.
  • You understand that compliance isn't a tick-box exercise but rather it's a core feature requirement.
  • You're experimenting with AI beyond just the basics.
  • You're thinking about how it can improve team workflows, development cycles, and your own management approach.

If this sounds like the challenge you're ready for, hit the apply button to find out more.
