Join a Global Leader in Automotive Innovation Exciting Opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer – Roles in Powertrain Component Development & Project Coordination As part of our continued growth and success, FEV UK is pleased to offer multiple opportunities for experienced Mechanical Engineers to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

FEV UK is the agile and fast-growing UK arm of FEV Group, one of the world's largest automotive engineering consultancies, delivering advanced engineering solutions across powertrain, transmission, vehicle and mobility development.

These roles support FEV lead programmes located in the Midlands (Coventry) and Woking, working directly with leading automotive manufacturers and suppliers on the development of conventional powertrains, including internal combustion engines and automatic transmissions.

Depending on experience and skill we’re looking for candidates that are looking for a technically focused role or a more programme delivery project management role

The

Role: We are seeking motivated engineers who can combine strong technical capability with effective project coordination.

The projetcs covers the complete product development process from concept through validation and release to production, acting as a key interface between customers, suppliers, design teams and test facilities.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead component development activities for engine and/or automatic transmission programmes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams to deliver programme objectives, timing plans and technical milestones.
  • Support component and system design reviews, ensuring robust engineering solutions and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Manage suppliers throughout the development lifecycle, including technical reviews, issue resolution and delivery tracking.
  • Define and coordinate validation and durability test programmes at component, subsystem and vehicle level.
  • Analyse test results, identify failure modes, drive root-cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, status updates and engineering recommendations to customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage engineering changes, risk assessments and product maturity reviews.
  • Support prototype build activities and production readiness assessments.
  • Coordinate component sign-off activities and release parts into production.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety and programme management processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities and share engineering best practice across project teams. What You'll Bring
  • Typically 3+ years of experience in automotive product development.
  • Experience with conventional powertrain systems, including engines and/or automatic transmissions.
  • Strong understanding of engineering development processes, component validation and production release.
  • Experience working with automotive suppliers and customer engineering teams.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and manage project deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Education & Technical Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of automotive product development methodologies and APQP processes.
  • Experience with CAD review processes, engineering drawings and GD&T principles.
  • Knowledge of testing, durability, reliability and validation activities.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with confidence in data analysis and technical reporting.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality and change management processes. Interpersonal Qualities
