The Role: Calibration Engineer – Hybrid Powertrain Focus
We’re looking for a
Calibration Engineer to play a key role in supporting our customers on‑site.
This is a hands‑on, technically rich position that places you at the heart of powertrain development—particularly in the fast‑evolving world of hybrid calibration.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead calibration and development activities for customer powertrains, with a strong focus on hybrid systems to meet performance, emissions, and drivability targets.
- Analyse and interpret powertrain data to identify and resolve system‑level issues.
- Act as a key liaison between cross‑functional teams, ensuring smooth communication and technical alignment.
- Understand and validate OBD (On‑Board Diagnostics) strategies, ensuring compliance and functionality.
- Execute and analyse OBD tests, and produce documentation for legal and regulatory purposes.
- Drive validation of customer requirements using targeted testing methods.
- Develop and implement action plans to meet project milestones, motivating teams to deliver results.
- Conduct test driving for OBD data acquisition and calibration refinement.
- Support calibration development and validation of various engine and hybrid system components.
- Create and optimise tools to support calibration workflows.
- Participate in test trips and validation loops, both locally and internationally.
- Gain additional technical expertise through our structured training and development programme, designed to support your professional growth and broaden your calibration knowledge.
- Expertise in aftertreatment calibration and emissions compliance strategies.
- Advanced thermal management calibration techniques for conventional and hybrid powertrains.
- Development, validation, and optimisation of OBD calibration strategies to meet legislative requirements.
- Qualification
- What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Engineering and 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of Powertrain Control Module software, especially in hybrid applications.
- Proficiency with tools such as INCA, CANalyzer, CANoe, Creta, Uniplot.
- Familiarity with safety standards like IEC 61508, ISO 26262, EN 50126.
- Experience in vehicle‑level testing and hybrid system validation.
- Excellent time management and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Education & Technical Skills
- Hands‑on experience with data acquisition software/hardware.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office and engineering tools (INCA, Uniplot, MATLAB, etc.).
- Ability to manipulate complex Excel files for data analysis.
- Experience in customer‑facing roles with clear and effective reporting.
