We are seeking an experienced, proactive Site Manager for a 6-week summer contract to oversee defects and minor repair works at a Bedfordshire school. This project was originally delivered as part of Central Bedfordshire Council’s ‘Schools for the Future’ programme. With the school empty for the summer holidays, this is a fast-paced turnaround role to ensure the facilities are flawless for the upcoming academic year. The original major works included a new two-storey teaching block, a sports hall with changing facilities, sound-proofed music practice rooms, and extensive external works (EV charging, car parks, landscaping, and bicycle storage). Your focus will be managing the "odds and ends," closing out any defects and extra drainage works and coordinating sub-contractors on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate trade sub-contractors executing snagging lists and minor repairs across the teaching block, sports hall, and music rooms.
- Oversee minor external defects (landscaping, hard play areas, car parking touch-ups).
- Maintain strict health and safety standards on-site.
- Conduct thorough quality inspections to sign off completed snags.
- Act as the main point of contact for the client and school representatives during the summer access period.
Requirements:
- SMSTS & First Aid at Work (Essential)
- CSCS Card (Black/Gold preferred)
- Enhanced DBS Check (highly advantageous due to the school setting, though works are during holidays)
- Proven track record of managing school refurbishments, handovers, or intensive snagging periods.
- Strong communication skills and an eye for high-quality finishes.
To Apply: If you are available to start on Monday 20th July and have the relevant school/snagging experience, please apply with your updated CV today.
