The Opportunity
Are you a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with a passion for bespoke, high value architecture? We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Quantity Surveyor to join a leading high-end residential contractor based in Sussex. This firm is renowned for delivering some of the most prestigious private residential projects in the South East, ranging from ultra modern coastal builds to extensive heritage refurbishments.
This is a role for a QS who understands that high-end residential surveying isn’t just about the numbers; it’s about managing complex, specialist packages and maintaining the "white-glove" service our clients expect.
The Role
- Procurement: Managing the selection and appointment of specialist subcontractors (bespoke joinery, stonemasonry, high-end MEP, etc.).
- Cost Management: Taking full responsibility for CVRs, budget forecasting, and monthly cost reporting.
- Variations: Managing frequent design changes and ensuring all variations are captured and agreed upon with the client and design team.
- Subcontractor Management: Handling valuations, payment certificates, and final account negotiations.
- Collaboration: Working closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure the commercial health of every project.
The Ideal Candidate
- Sector Experience: A proven background in high-end residential construction (private clients/bespoke builds).
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with high-spec materials and the unique costs associated with luxury finishes.
- Commercial Drive: Strong negotiation skills and a proactive approach to cost control.
- Qualifications: Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field (RICS/CIOB status is a plus).
- Local Focus: Ideally based in Sussex and comfortable visiting sites across the county.
