Are you a sharp, detail-oriented Estimator looking to join a thriving commercial contractor in Mid-Kent? We are recruiting for a Permanent Estimator to join a well-established firm in the Chatham area specializing in high-quality commercial fit-outs and refurbishments. From modern office transformations to high-street retail and industrial refits, our client has a reputation for delivering projects on time, on budget, and to an exceptional standard. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Estimator who enjoys the fast-paced nature of fit-out and wants to play a key role in winning and shaping high-profile commercial projects across Kent and the South East.
The Role
- Tendering: Producing accurate and competitive prime cost estimates for commercial fit-out and refurbishment schemes.
- Take-offs: Conducting detailed take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Subcontractor Liaison: Sending out inquiries to a trusted supply chain and analyzing quotes to ensure "apples-for-apples" comparisons.
- Site Visits: Attending pre-tender site meetings to identify potential risks or logistical challenges.
- Value Engineering: Identifying opportunities to save costs for the client without compromising the design intent.
- Handover: Working closely with the Project Management and Surveying teams to ensure a smooth transition from bid to build.
The Ideal Candidate
- Sector Experience: Proven experience estimating for commercial fit-out (CAT A & CAT B) or refurbishment projects.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong IT skills, ideally with experience in estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Commercial Awareness: A deep understanding of current market rates for labor and materials in the SE England region.
- Communication: Ability to build strong relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors.
- Local Focus: Based in or near Mid-Kent (Chatham, Maidstone, Gillingham) for easy office access.
The Package
