Blue Zoo Animation Studio Modelling Artists are crucial world builders at Blue Zoo. They are responsible for constructing the detailed environments, props, and characters that bring our animated worlds to life and add the charming details essential for compelling storytelling. Your primary focus will be on creating detailed and stylised environment and prop assets for our Short Form team. This involves accurately translating informative concept designs into 3D while adhering to stringent production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
  • Execute the modelling and UV mapping of stylised environment and prop assets.
  • Effectively translate 2D concept designs into high-quality 3D assets, including working proficiently from minimal design information.
  • Deliver UV Maps and bake displacement maps for the Surfacing Department.
  • Generate essential render tests for the final approval process.
  • Work collaboratively within a team of modelling artists, maintaining regular, clear communication with your Team Lead, Directors, and Art Director.
  • Manage your assigned assets and time with high efficiency to meet demanding production schedules.
  • Receive feedback and direction from the Rigging Department, CG Supervisor, Art Director, and Directors with a positive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Proactively report any potential issues affecting the schedule to your Team Lead and Production Manager.
About You:
  • Demonstrable experience utilizing Blender.
  • Expert ability to interpret volume and form when translating concept designs into models.
  • Proficiency in using established modelling tools within both Maya and ZBrush.
  • Strong understanding and application of clean topology.
  • Experience with UV mapping using either Maya or UVLayout.
  • Proven record as a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent creative problem-solving skills and a keen artistic eye.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of industry-standard 3D software packages and production pipelines.
  • Experience in meeting demanding deadlines while consistently maintaining a high standard of quality.
Desirable Experience (Bonus Points)
  • Working knowledge of Substance Painter.
  • Working knowledge of Substance Designer.
