The Housing Executive is now recruiting for an Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding (EDIS) Manager to join their team.

Department: Corporate Services

Grade: Band 8

Reports to: Assistant Director, Organisational Development

Location: Belfast, with some travel throughout NI

Job Purpose

In this role, you will ensure the delivery of our Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding (EDIS) plan and actions and ensure compliance with our duties under Section 75 and Article 55 whilst directing the EDIS team in areas of equity screening and impact assessment, safeguarding, equality compliance and the promotion of diversity and inclusion in the organisation. You will also contribute as an integral member of the HR/OD team to the provision of a modern, professional and responsive equality and safeguarding service to support NIHE business delivery and our vision and values.

Essential Criteria

  • Possess a Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management or equivalent
  • Hold current professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at Chartered Member (MCIPD) or above [OR] Can demonstrate ability to obtain within 2 years of commencement
  • Can demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a senior role which includes application of equality legislation and Section 75 duties in a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • Be fully conversant with equality legislation and the statutory duties relevant to the role
  • Can demonstrate significant relevant experience in at least 4 of the 5 areas below:
    • A) Translating legislation and policy into clear, practical guidance and ensuring managers and staff are appropriately trained to ensure compliance
    • B) Overseeing the delivery of equality and inclusion actions and initiatives and embedding improvements
    • C) Building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and external partners
    • D) Ensuring effective consultation, screening and equality impact assessment regarding statutory obligations
    • E) Management of safeguarding procedures and associated risks to ensure the safety and welfare of service users across a range of services
  • Candidates will be assessed against the competencies in the Senior Leader section of the Housing Executive Competency Framework through the recruitment and selection process. The following are particularly relevant:
